Residency Summary

Un-Chan Chung presented a public talk on the “Future of South Korea and the United States in Times of Uncertainty,” and guest lectured in a class, meeting with student leaders. He also met with UC San Diego Chancellor Fox and leading faculty. Chung attended the Seoul National University Alumni Association Dinner and met with members of the Korean American Association of San Diego.

Biography

Un-Chan Chung served as the president of Seoul National University (SNU), where he was also a professor, before becoming South Korea’s Prime Minister. He has served as a member of the President's Council of the University of Tokyo since 2006. He was also a business associate and assistant professor at Columbia University in 1976. Chung earned a bachelor’s degree in economics at SNU and a master’s degree in economics at Miami University in Ohio. He was awarded a doctorate in economics at Princeton University and an honorary doctorate in international education at the Far Eastern National University in Vladivostok, Russia.
